¹³ “I will utterly consume them,” says Adonai.
    “There will be no grapes on the vine,
        and no figs on the fig tree,
        and even the leaf will wither,
        and what I gave them will pass away.”
¹⁴ “Why are we sitting here?
Assemble!
    Let us flee to the fortified cities
        and perish there!
    For Adonai Eloheinu has silenced us
        and given us poisoned water to drink.
    For we have sinned against Adonai.
¹⁵ We hoped for shalom,
    but it is no good,
    for a time of healing
        —and suddenly, terror!”
